US MASTERS PROFILE
The easy-swinging South African has two US Opens in the bag but is desperate to get his hands on a US Masters. His closest brush came in 2000 when he couldn't quite reel in Vijay Singh on the final day and had to settle for second. Els really does have the ideal game for Augusta and has recorded six top 20s in his previous seven visits, including a top six last year despite looking completely out of sorts going into the tournament. He's started 2002 in sparkling form and has already racked up victories in America, Australia and Dubai. Most bookies make him second favourite behind Tiger Woods and that looks justified.
