THE OPEN PROFILE
Westwood went through a real slump in the early part of the new century but two wins at the backend of 2003 - one at the dunhill Links event which involves the Old Course as part of the rotation - re-established him as one of Europe's top peformers. He has not won since but has regained the consistency that was the hallmark of his game and Open Championship week could see him on course to break his duck for 2005. He finished strongly at Royal Troon 12 months ago to claim fourth place and another bold bid is a distinct possibility.
