THE OPEN PROFILE
Jim Furyk's comeback from wrist surgery in 2004 was completed at the recent Cialis Western Open when he grittily held off a last-round charge from Tiger Woods for victory. That deserved shot in the arm came on the back of some near misses this season and should see Furyk in confident mood coming into St Andrews. His efforts at the Open Championship have dipped markedly in recent years but his current wellbeing suggests a return to the form he showed in the event in the late 1990s is very much on the cards.
