THE OPEN PROFILE
Campbell finally showed the limits of his unquestioned talent when producing a superb display to hold off Tiger Woods and capture the US Open last month. The Kiwi had suffered some baffling lows on his journey to a first major title and at times had even thought about quitting the game. Before his crowning moment at Pinehurst, Campbell's best shot at a major had come at St Andrews in 1995 when he led after round three. Despite faltering on Sunday he finished just one shot out of the Daly-Rocca play-off and given his new-found confidence he has a genuine chance of getting his hands on the Claret Jug this time.
