| Love took time to adapt to links golf but really got the ball rolling with a top ten at Troon in 1997. Since then he's amassed a superb record on these shores with Open finishes of 7-7-11-21-14-4. Last year he had a golden chance to take victory after opening up a two-shot lead at halfway but faltered over the weekend and missed out by two strokes. Surprisingly for a player of his immense talent his only Major victory came at the 1997 USPGA when he was a brilliant winner at Winged Foot. As well as last year's Open, near misses include two second places at the US Masters and a runners-up spot in the 1996 US Open. He's had a quiet build-up to this year's event but has every chance of being in the shake-up on Sunday afternoon. |
