| Goosen remains one of the quiet men among the big guns of world golf but don't let the serene demeanour fool you - he is one of the toughest competitors around and proved it at Shinnecock last month when showing nerves of steel to edge out Phil Mickelson and win his second US Open crown. Despite admitting to being shattered, Goosen captured the Smurfit European Open on his next start to open up a big lead at the top of the Order of Merit. He hasn't really challenged at the business end of a British Open but he's starting to emerge as one of its more consistent players with four top tens in the last seven years, including a tied 10th at Troon in 1997. One to keep a close eye on.
