| The mercurial Allenby has all the right credentials to become a major winner at some stage in his career. A feisty competitor, he fought back from injuries sustained in a car crash in 1996 to establish himself on the PGA Tour in America and has notched four wins there to date. He is a fine player on tough courses and in difficult conditions and his recent form, including a top-10 finish at the US Open, suggests that his game is coming together for a big week at Troon. A good effort at the venue back in 1997 bodes well and makes him one of the dark horses for the title. |
