Scotland's Martin Laird has jumped from 117th in the world rankings to 56th thanks to his brilliant victory in the Valero Texas Open.

Laird carded a flawless final round of 63 in San Antonio to win by two shots from world number two Rory McIlroy and secure his place at this week's US Masters.

Germany's Marcel Siem, who missed out on a place at Augusta National by 0.03 points after winning the Hassan Trophy in Morocco the previous week, has moved into the top 50 - to 48th - seven days too late after finishing joint 10th in Texas.
