The 34-year-old American joins the likes of Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Hunter Mahan, Ryo Ishikwawa and defending champion Lee Westwood in confirming his intention to play.
Watson will go in search of his first international triumph in Thailand with the last of his four career PGA Tour wins having come at Augusta back in April.
His best result since clinching the Green Jacket was a share of second place at the Travelers Championship in June and the left-hander admits he would love to snap his winless streak in Thailand.
"I would love to walk away with the trophy there," Watson said of the Asian Tour event.
"I'm looking forward to going to the Thailand Golf Championship and challenging myself and challenging the golf course and trying to beat some of the best players in the world."
Watson revealed that Westwood - who won the event by a thumping seven-shot margin last year - had played a big part in convincing him to add the Asian tournament to his schedule.
"Lee won it last year and he said it was a great event and he enjoyed his time there. I heard there are some islands which are beautiful and I would like to do some sight-seeing," he added.
