The US Open was once again a Major disaster for Colin Montgomerie - but a joy for Lee Janzen.
For almost four days at the Olympic Club in San Francisco Janzen looked a very unlikely winner.
It was Payne Stewart who led for almost every step of the way.
For more than three days he led the field with some superb golf on a very tough course.
And with Janzen seven shots back at one stage during the final round you couldn't have written the eventual scenario.
But back came Janzen to pip him at the post to take the title by one shot.
Monty meanwhile, saw his bid end in acrimony and disappointment as he was heckled by the US crowds.
