Tiger Woods won the Accenture Match Play final by a record margin as he blew away Stewart Cink eight and seven.

Top seed Woods quickly established his dominance over fellow his American Cink in the 36-hole final, emphatically posting his sixth consecutive victory worldwide.

"This is certainly the best stretch I think I've ever played," Woods said after recording the most comprehensive win in the final of the event, bettering the previous record six-and-five victory by David Toms in 2005.

It is Woods' third victory in this event, and his 15th in 26 starts in the three tournaments that comprise the World Golf Championships.

He also posted his 63rd career victory on the PGA Tour, moving to fourth on the all-time list, ahead of Arnold Palmer, behind only Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan.

"I'm looking forward to seeing Arnie (Palmer)," quipped Woods, who has won seven of his past eight official starts worldwide stretching back to last August - his only defeat a second place behind Phil Mickelson in Boston last September.

"I got off to a quick start, put a lot of heat on Stu and never let him into the match."

Woods did not make a bogey until the 18th hole, where he plugged his second shot in a greenside bunker.

Even that did not cost him anything as Cink, usually the most reliable of putters, missed a seven-footer that would have given him the hole.

"I'm very proud of the way I played all week, until today," said Cink.

"I'm a little disappointed I didn't throw more at Tiger, put some pressure on him."

Woods stamped his authority on the final from the very first hole, halving the par five with a birdie, before winning the second with another birdie.

Two more quick birdies, followed by a Cink bogey at the par-three eighth, left Woods four up at the turn.

As if that was not bad enough for Cink, he fell further behind with a bogey at the 11th, before finally winning his first hole of the day with a birdie at the par-four 12th.

Cink also won the par-three 16th, sinking a 25-foot bomb, and just for a minute it seemed that with momentum on his side, it would perhaps turn into a competitive match.

Woods, however, was having none of it. He came up just short of the green with his second shot at the par-five 17th, and chipped well to win the hole and re-establish his four-hole lead.

And although Woods opened the door at the par-four 18th, Cink was unable to take advantage.

If Cink hoped for an unlikely comeback over the second 18 holes, a Woods birdie at the second, the 20th hole, showed that it was not to be.

Woods had an uncharacteristically sloppy bogey at the par-five fifth, but Cink could not take advantage of it, also making bogey as he missed a six-footer.

The world number one promptly won the next three holes with birdies and finally closed out the match when he hit his second shot close at the par-four 11th, the 29th hole, with Cink conceding the putt and the match.

Cink, who for all his talent has just four PGA Tour victories, admitted on Saturday that he is an "underachiever", a tag that few would dispute judging by the way the 22nd seed played.

This was just Woods' third tournament of the year. He blew away the field to win the PGA Tour's Buick Invitational by eight strokes last month, before capturing the European Tour's Dubai Desert Classic the following week.

In the match for third place, Swede Henrik Stenson beat American Justin Leonard three and two.
