Ben Curtis 69 (283): "I want to keep as normal as possible. I'm a normal guy with a lot of talent. My life is going to change, but I'm looking forward to it. A lot of great challenges lie ahead of me. I came here just trying to play the best I could and compete at the weekend. I was in a zone and didn't think winning until afterwards. I can't describe how I feel. It's unbelievable."
Thomas Bjorn 72 (284): "On the 15th today I had one hand on the trophy and I let it go. Obviously I'm disappointed. I thought I did a lot of right things. The 15th was probably more of a key than anything, but 16 was a couple of poor bunker shots at the wrong time. I thought I deserved a little bit more than I got and it's going to be a tough few days. At the 16th I just got caught on the wind a bit. Just a couple more yards left it would have gone to three feet. I had my good breaks and had a bad one there. But you live with it and go on. I know now I'm on my way back and I feel I have majors in me."
Tiger Woods 71 (285): "I wish I could have putted better on the back nine especially as I didn't
have a chance coming to 18 unless I holed the second shot. We didn't know Thomas Bjorn was going to make six on 15. It's one of those
things. I had a chance. I was at two under par for a while and I put myself right where I needed to
be and just didn't make the putts and hit the proper shots. I hit some good
shots on the back nine. They just didn't turn out where I wanted to put them."
Brian Davis 68 (286): "It is great to play well in my own country, especially in the Open which for me is the biggest tournament of them all, and maybe one day I'll be in a position to win it."
Nick Faldo 70 (287): "My big goal now is to really work on my stamina. At my age
it affects me and I slowed up a bit. When I looked and saw the leader was five
under that got me down and I switched off and thought I was just playing for
position. And I finished badly. Now I'm going to gear myself up for September to get as many points as I can
for the Ryder Cup. I'm going to do everything I can with my schedule and
fitness. I'm going to give it one real good blast and see what happens. I've got
to tell myself I can still do it."
Gary Evans 71 (288): "I'm delighted, my aim was to earn exemption, but
I was afraid to look at the placings in case they got it wrong!"
Ernie Els 72 (290): "It is one of those things, it had to come to an end. I didn't play well enough, that is basically it, and good luck to the winner. I had a bad start when I didn't play well enough in the tough conditions. I got it back on the second day and was on my way back yesterday before I made a couple of mistakes which blew it for me."
Darren Clarke 76 (297): "I am playing rubbish, simple as that."
Ian Woosnam 75 (303): "It's better than not playing or missing the cut. I've done well to make the Open and then the cut but the last two rounds were disappointing. There was hardly any wind and conditions were perfect for scoring, you just need to get the right breaks."
