| The classy Scot hit the headlines four years ago when he came from 10 shots behind to win a four-man play-off for the Open Championship at Carnoustie. His success was somewhat overshadowed by the antics of Jean van de Velde on the 72nd hole but his play on that final day was coolness personified and he thoroughly deserved to lift the Claret Jug. He has yet to add to that Major but is twice a winner since on the European Tour. He is an elegant swinger of the club and proven links performer - certainly one for the shortlist particularly if the weather were to close in at Royal St George's. |
