Alastair Forsyth put on a brave face after a third round in which nothing went
his way and consoled himself with the fact he did not let his head drop at any
time.
The Scot got off to the worst possible start as he bogeyed the opening hole
and then double bogeyed the second, and he went on to shoot a 78 to
finish on nine over par.
"It was just one of those days when everything went against me because I
didn't do an awful lot wrong and I shot 78," said Forsyth.
"I have shot 78 before and played a lot worse than that, and I have also
played a lot worse and scored better. I just have to take it on the chin and get
on with it.
"I stuck in there and tried as hard as I could but it just never happened. I
went out in a good frame of mind and was confident I was going to do well, but I
got off to a bad start and it went from there.
"I played well in the first two rounds and was hitting the ball well on the
range before I went out, so I thought there was no reason why I wasn't going to
go out and play well again, and I didn't do much wrong but I had a couple of bad
breaks and bounces and suddenly I was seven over.
"You only thing you can learn is to accept days like that and the good thing
I can take from it is the fact I never gave in at any point - I didn't chuck it
in and my head didn't go down, I was still trying my hardest right up to the
last.
"I was hoping if I could pick up a birdie or two it would give me a buzz but
it just never happened."
