Ernie Els (70): "It hasn't sunk in yet. I was shaking on that putt and
was shaking on a couple of them earlier today. I've been after this for 10 years. I finished fifth in 1992 as a 22-year-old
and I've been going hard at this one."
Tiger Woods (65): "Today I just said go out there and play the way you have been playing. I have played well all week. Just yesterday was a brutal day."
Peter O'Malley (65): "Anytime you shoot 65 is good, but on the last day of the Open, is always
more special."
Padraig Harrington (67): "It is a full package you need to win a
major, I just didn't have the putting this week but I felt very comfortable out
there and I don't think I need anything else."
Mark O'Meara (68): "I played a bit better today. I hit a lot of good shots. One under for the tournament is not bad. I beat my buddy Tiger."
Darren Clarke (69): "Bogey chances went begging at 9, 10, 13, 14, everywhere. I played easily well enough to shoot 65 and I walked off with a 69. It is disappointing."
Nick Faldo (70): "It was a real waste today - I played really nicely and could have shot 59! It's the worst I've putted all season."
Justin Rose (72): "He said: "I hit the ball fantastically today to be honest - I had seriously
loads and loads of birdie chances out there but it was one of those days where I
feel like breaking my putter."
Colin Montgomerie (75): "I'm very disappointed at the way you guys keep on trying to believe that I
have a bad temper on the golf course."
