Justin Rose (68): "I felt like I needed to go out there and get myself back in the tournament
and I save par at the first and got the momentum going from the word go, which
was nice.
Justin Leonard (68): "I played well today, especially on the back nine. I gave myself some chances
and hit a few more fairways and continued to putt well so it was fun out there
today."
Steve Elkington (68): "The course is not playing too difficult but it’s very different from the first two days. I don’t know if the correct word is humid or coastal or heavy. I played super on the front nine and had a nice strong finish."
Peter Lonard (68): "I was thinking 'You beauty' the way I started and what happened on the ninth
- and 10th - really hurt. (On the ninth) I gave the 3-wood a bit of a run and sniped it out of bounds. It was a bit of a crappy shot, so to speak."
David Duval (70): “I certainly played well today but I should have been a few shots better than I am. If I’d been at the top of my golf game I would have probably been 5 or 6 under at the moment.”
Jesper Parnevik (70): “I played great on the front nine. I made five birdies and three putted number three but couldn’t keep it going on the back nine. Overall, I’m just a little disappointed but I’m still happy to be here on the weekend you know. I finished eagle-birdie to get there.”
Ian Woosnam (73) "I've not played well for the last three days and have just been chopping it
around and finding it difficult. I am just going to go out full blast (tomorrow) and might go with driver on every hole. I might as well because it doesn't matter if you shoot 86."
Sandy Lyle (73): "Today was supposed to be a go-for-it day to try to get back into things, but
I didn't exactly get a flyer."
Phil Mickelson (76): "I've just not played well this week. The course has been set up beautifully
and it's probably my favourite of the Open courses, but I've just not gotten sharp with my game at all."
Paul Lawrie (78): “The weather was horrendous and I played poorly. I tried every shot that I could today but nothing happened. I’ll go home, have a bath, drink some hot chocolate and watch the other guys struggle.
Tiger Woods (81): "I hit poor shots on a tough day and that's added up to a pretty high
number."
