BRITISH OPEN PROFILE
Had a putt at the 72nd hole of the 1999 Open Championship at Carnoustie to make the play-off, but missed it and had to settle for fourth place. Finally won his first European Tour event last year when he landed the Open de Argentina in front of his home fans. Claimed his first victory on European soil when winning this year's Benson and Hedges International Open at the Belfy. Cabrera finished ninth at this year's US Masters and is widely recognised as a world class performer. A sixth place finish at the Smurfit European Open two weeks ago showed his game to be in good order, although on his most recent outing in the Scottish Open he did miss the cut. Cabrera will head to Muirfield looking for a similar performance to three years ago.
