BRITISH OPEN PROFILE

The former world number one is the king of Muirfield after the winning the last two Open Championships to be held there back in 1987 and 1992. Many people thought that Faldo would never have the chance to win his seventh Major title, but his form this season makes him a serious contender for this year's tournament. Faldo finished 14th at this year's US Masters, before putting up an incredible display to come fifth at the US Open at Bethpage. That effort alone signalled the return of Faldo - and along with an 11th at the B&H International and fourth at the Volvo PGA Championship his game is defintely on the up. Faldo fans worldwide will be hoping he can bounce back from a missed cut at Loch Lomond and continue his good form this week. On a course that he loves he has to have a good chance and a fourth Open win for Faldo would confirm his status as a golfing legend. There would not be a more popular winner!
