This is Love's 15th visit to the Open and he still hasn't matched his late father's sixth place at Lytham in 1969. He's been close in the last five years though with finishes of 21-11-7-7-10 so he's starting to master the challenge of links golf. Surprisingly for a player of his immense talent his only Major victory came at the 1997 USPGA when he was a brilliant winner at Winged Foot. Near misses include two second places at the US Masters and a runners-up spot in the 1996 US Open. Heads to Muirfield with his game in fantastic shape after second place finishes in his last two tournaments on the US Tour. Came 14th at the US Masters this year after being the first round leader and was 24th at last month's US Open. Looks a genuine contender for this year's tournament.
