BRITISH OPEN PROFILE
Shot to prominence when chipping in at the last to finish fourth as an amateur at Royal Birkdale in the 1998 Open Championship. The day after he turned pro but endured a horrid first couple of seasons. Finally realised his potential this year when winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa. That win seemed to give Rose the confidence to move his game to the next level and since then he has won three more tournaments, including the Victor Chandler British Masters. Finished 30th at Lytham last year and heads to Muirfield with his game in great nick after finishing fifth in the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond. Has the talent to become one of the best players in the world and it would be no surprise to see him at the top end of the leaderboard.
