Won three Walker Cup caps and completed an accountancy degree before turning pro in 1995. Won Spanish Open in his rookie season and the following year was part of World
Cup-winning Irish side. This year Harrington has continued to be a very consistent performer, with seven top ten finishes to his name on the European Tour. He heads to Lytham in tremendous form with back-to-back second places in the Murphy's Irish Open and Smurfit European Open. The Irish star has posted two top 30 finishes in this year's opening two Majors and has a good Open record to date. He finished 18th at Lytham back in 1996, before coming fifth at Troon a year later. After making a bright start he faded during the weekend to finish 20th at St Andrews last year, and will be looking to improve on that finish this time around. Certainly has the game and temperament to win a Major and is one of Europe's leading hopes to win this year's tournament.
