The Dane made a big impression in the Majors last year with a second in the Open and a third at the USPGA. His tied second alongside Ernie Els at St Andrews proved he could be a future Open winner and it followed on from a tied eighth at Birkdale in 1998. He's followed up his excellent 2000 with another profitable campaign this year. The highlight was his victory in the Dubai Desert Classic when he played all four rounds with Tiger Woods and gave the world number one a rare beating. The highlight for wife Pernilla came a fortnight ago when Bjorn won her a £100,000 diamond ring after playing the par fives at the Smurfit European Open in 14 under and then finished a superb second to Retief Goosen at last week's Scottish Open. That proves Bjorn is in great form again and there is no reason why he can't get himself in the thick of contention this week.
