OPEN PROFILE
The phemonenal Woods re-wrote the record books as he powered to an eight-shot win at St Andrews last year. As well as becoming the first man ever to reach 19 under in a major, he also became the youngest to complete the set of all four. That victory had been coming for some time. A thrilling birdie-birdie finish left Woods just one shot out of a play-off at Royal Birkdale three years ago and only a cold putter denied him at Carnoustie in 1999 when seventh. Tiger loves the challenge of links golf and even though Lytham may not quite suit him as much as St Andrews, he's still the overwhelming. Not getting into contention at the US Open and also finishing out of the top ten at the Buick Classic and the Western Open may give others hope but experienced Tiger watchers know he can raise his game at the right time better than anyone.
