Bernie Ecclestone is hopeful of finding a resolution that will see Sauber on the grid for next season.
Following BMW's decision to pull out of F1, with their last grand prix Sunday's race in Abu Dhabi, Sauber are currently fighting for their future.
Sauber provisionally have a 14th spot on the grid for next season, but that has to be approved by all the teams, and currently there is opposition.
Williams have been the most outspoken on the subject, with CEO Adam Parr recently stating Sauber cannot be accommodated, either logistically or financially.
The only guarantee for Sauber is if another team withdraws from F1, and then they will take up the vacancy.
"If they can make it, I'm sure they'll be there," said Ecclestone.
"I hope they'll be there. I'm sure we'll find a way."
BMW Motorsport boss Mario Theissen insists time is of the essence if Sauber are to survive as they cannot wait indefinitely, either for a decision to be made on 14 teams, or for a team to pull out.
"There is a lot going on behind the scenes," said Theissen.
"I think we are making progress, but the crucial issue is still the place on the grid.
"We don't have a clear deadline, but it is clear time is running.
"It gets more and more difficult for the team as obviously you can only sign drivers and sponsors when you have a place on the grid."
