Romain Grosjean will serve a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas.

Romain Grosjean: Hit by grid penalty

The Lotus driver suffered a gearbox issue in final practice which has necessitated a change ahead of qualifying, so incurring a penalty.

Despite Kimi Raikkonen's victory in Abu Dhabi a fortnight ago, Lotus have so far struggled on the new track due to problems with getting heat into their tyres.

It could mean Grosjean starting towards the rear of the field as the Frenchman finished no higher than 13th on the practice timesheets.

The stewards, meanwhile, have decided to take no further action against Sauber's Sergio Perez after his collision with Marussia's Charles Pic in final practice.

Both drivers were summoned before the four-man panel, and although Perez went into the hearing with two reprimands to his name and the prospect of a third landing him a 10-place penalty, he escaped without any sanction.
