While Paul di Resta is under contract to drive for the team for a third successive year in 2013, the team have a vacancy to fill following Nico Hulkenberg's decision to join Sauber as a replacement for the McLaren-bound Sergio Perez.
However, an announcement may still be weeks away with Mallya confirming: "We have traditionally waited until the end of the season to confirm our line-up and I expect we will stick to this schedule.
"With the state of the driver market at the moment there is no rush to make an announcement. We have a shortlist and will take our time to make sure we have the fastest drivers available in our cars next season."
A number of drivers remain in the frame to succeed Hulkenberg, including Adrian Sutil, who drove alongside Di Resta in 2011, and the team's current reserve driver, Jules Bianchi. Another currently-former F1 driver, Jaime Alguersuari, has also been linked with the team, as might Kamui Kobayashi were he to lose his seat at Sauber.
