Narain Karthikeyan enters Formula One in 2005 as a Jordan driver with a great deal of money and even more expectation behind him.

The first Indian driver ever to reach the pinnacle of motorsport, it wouldn't be too far from the truth to say Narain's place was booked more through his financial backing than his past performances.

Having spent the past three seasons competing in the Nissan World Series, Narain achieved a highest finishing position of P4, which he secured in 2003. He dropped two places the following year.

However with Jordan, recently purchased by the Midland Group, having already having pencilled Mexican driver Mario Dominquez in for 2006, it will take an impressive performance this year for Karthikeyan to retain his seat.
