Having already raised Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso to better things, Minardi are putting their faith this season in promising young Italian Gianmaria Bruni.
The Roman, who does not turn 23 until May, joined the European Aviation set-up after impressing as test driver last season.
Minardi boss paul Stoddart was pleased with 'Gimmi's' contribution to the package last seasonand belives he has unearthed another genuine star in the making.
Bruni starred in Formula Renault in his native country as a teenager before attracting the attention of the F1 scouts when he competed in British Formula Three and F3000 races in the last two years.
He will have to show the temperament needed to get the best out of a under-funded car or he may well get exasperated at trailing the field constantly.
