BRAZIL CELEBRATE IN STYLE

Brazil brought typical colour to an unorthodox trophy-giving ceremony after beating Germany 2-0 in the World Cup final in Yokohama.

In the moments after Ronaldo's double strike had landed the South Americans their fifth world crown, the entire Brazilian players and coaching staff linked arms in a huge circle on the pitch.

With many draped in giant yellow and green flags, the team appeared to conduct a private - almost spiritual - celebration.

The players then lined up for the jubilant presentation with each receiving an enthusiastic kiss and hug from their mentor and Brazil's greatest ever player, Pele, before picking up their gold medals from FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

And the ceremony then reached new heights when Brazil skipper Cafu was hoisted on to the five-foot high platform that had been used to support the World Cup itself.

The defender, playing his last game for his country, at first seemed unsure of his perilous location several feet above his team-mates but he soon realised the moment and lifted aloft the game's greatest prize.
