FASTEST WORLD CUP GOALS

Turkey striker Hakan Sukur stunned South Korea with a goal after 10.8 seconds in the third-place play-off match.

The goal beat the previous finals fastest, scored by Vaclav Masek of Czechoslovakia against Mexico after just 16 seconds in the 1962 World Cup in Chile.

Bryan Robson's strike after 27 seconds against France in the 1982 World Cup is now the third-fastest in finals history.

Sukur's goal does not beat the previous record for any World Cup match - either qualifier or finals game - held by Davide Gualtieri of San Marino, who scored just nine seconds after the kick-off against England in 1993.
