Brazil were inspired to their World Cup semi-final success against Turkey by a
motivational video of messages of support from fans back home, the team have
revealed.
Before their victory in Saitama, the Brazilian players were shown the video,
which also featured pictures of wild scenes of celebrations by fans in South
America.
Given that the World Cup is taking place during the night in Brazil, the team
were amazed by the level of support they are receiving, even in a country for
which football is the national passion.
Ronaldinho revealed: "Before the match, we saw some images of the Brazilian
people supporting us and sending us messages.
"That made us very motivated. It counts a lot as people are expecting so much
of us."
Keeper Marcos added: "Before the game, we had a meeting where we watched a
video tape of Brazilian people being encouraged by our previous performances. So
we have to make them happy."
Roberto Carlos was surprised to see a photograph broadcast as part of the TV
compilation, which showed him as a child standing next to his father.
"I didn't even realise that the picture existed," he admitted. "We played
200% as we were very motivated."
