Ronaldo and Alpay challenge for the ball (Allsport)

1 minute: RIVALDO over-elaborates and is dispossessed by Yildiray Basturk.

2 minutes: RONALDO waits in the centre as Lucio bursts into the box, but the defender is unable to pull the ball back to him.

3 minutes: RIVALDO fails to control a pass and Turkey come away with the ball.

5 minutes: RONALDO is beaten to the ball by Fatih Akyel, but he comes deep to help his side and finds Roberto Carlos.

14 minutes: RIVALDO picks up the ball and runs at the Turkish defence, but Alpay does well to tackle RONALDO with Brazil in a dangerous position.

16 minutes: RIVALDO is unable to control a throw-in from Carlos in the box and Turkey clear the danger.

19 minutes: RONALDO is beaten to the ball by his marker and Turkey go close to taking the lead.

21 minutes: RIVALDO finds RONALDO and unselfishly he passes to the overlapping Cafu, whose shot is somehow touched over the bar by Rustu Recber.

23 minutes: Rustu again produces a wonderful double save first to deny RIVALDO, from long range, and RONALDO from close in.

25 minutes: RONALDO looks full of life, but he struggles to get the ball down, giving his marker the chance to tackle him and clear.

25 minutes: RIVALDO passes wide to Cafu and RONALDO cannot get past a double challenge from the Turkish defence. RIVALDO again dispossessed.

28 minutes: RONALDO lets fly with an ambitious long-range shot which is comfortably saved by Rustu.

31 minutes: RIVALDO wins Brazil a free-kick. He leaves it to Roberto Carlos to try a shot which is easily saved by Rustu.

35 minutes: Rustu stretches to make a brilliant save to deny RIVALDO from opening the scoring with a long-range shot.

36 minutes: The Turkish keeper is well beaten, but he breathes a sigh of relief as RIVALDO fires a left-foot shot just past the post.

38 minutes: Kleberson does well down the right and crosses, but RIVALDO is just beaten to the ball by Rustu. The Turkish defence blocks RIVALDO shot.

45 minutes: RONALDO unable to control pass from RIVALDO. RIVALDO is awarded a free-kick after foul from Sas.

49 minutes: RONALDO scores a wonderful goal having beaten one man and casually poking the ball past the despairing dive of Rustu and into the bottom corner.

51 minutes: RIVALDO sees his shot blocked, but he fights to get the ball back.

54 minutes: RONALDO comes back to help his team-mates and wins a free-kick.

58 minutes: RONALDO slides the ball through to Edilson, but he shoots wide with just Rustu to beat. RIVALDO wins a free-kick for his side after a foul from Tugay Kerimoglu.

60 minutes: RIVALDO passes upfield to Edilson, but he fails to continue the move. RIVALDO and RONALDO link up to put Kleberson in, but his effort is saved by Rustu.

64 minutes: RIVALDO attempts an ambitious lob from over 40 yards, but his effort sails well off target.

67 minutes: RONALDO wins Brazil a free-kick after a foul from Tuguy, but that is his last contribution and he is replaced by Luizao.

69 minutes: Carlos finds RIVALDO and he skips past two tackles before finding Luizao, who wastes the chance to cross.

75 minutes: RIVALDO fouls Alpay to give Turkey a free-kick near the centre circle.

79 minutes: RIVALDO wins a header to take some of the pressure off his side, but Luizao is unable to maintain possession.

88 minutes: RIVALDO tries to chip the keeper from outside the box, but his effort is comfortably saved by Rustu.

92 minutes: The Barcelona man fires free-kick wide before celebrating Brazil's passage into the final of the World Cup.
