The Costa Rica Football Federation have offered Alexandre Guimaraes the job as
national coach until the 2006 World Cup.
Guimaraes' last contract ended after the 5-2 defeat against Brazil, which
eliminated the Central American team from the World Cup.
Guimaraes always claimed he wanted to continue with the national team, but had
other offers and no formal one from the Costa Rican FA.
But after a meeting on Monday with FA officials, he was not only offered his
old position but also the chance to become the national team's general
supervisor.
This would increase his responsibility for organisational issues, one of his
biggest complaints before the World Cup.
Guimaraes will earn around £13,000 per month, which will be paid by a company
called Inter Forever, which has the TV rights for the national team.
