Brazil striker Ronaldo is set to be cleared to play in the World Cup
semi-final against Turkey after coming through a fitness test with no sign of
discomfort.
Ronaldo came off during the quarter-final victory against England last Friday
after feeling pain in his right thigh and has since been undergoing intense
physiotherapy and taking anti-inflammatory tablets.
He went through a gentle work-out on Monday to give coach Luiz Felipe Scolari
optimism that his joint leading scorer would be fit to face Turkey.
And while Ronaldo looked to be holding something back in reserve on Tuesday as the
Brazil squad worked out on the eve of the match, there were no signs of any
recurrence of his thigh problem.
The Brazilian medical staff were understood to be confident that the
centre-forward should be fit to start the match in Saitama.
With Ronaldinho suspended following his red card against England, there should
therefore be just one enforced change to the line-up.
Edilson filled the attacking role alongside Ronaldo in an 11-a-side training
session, although Juninho and Denilson, who were the two brightest players
for the 'reserve' side, were both used there on Monday.
