Picture Rizo - ref with a reputation for discipline (Allsport)

ERIKSSON IN WARNING OVER REF

By Mark Bradley, PA Sport Chief Soccer Writer, Shizuoka

Sven-Goran Eriksson will sound a note of warning to his players ahead of tomorrow's World Cup quarter-final against Brazil by pointing out that referee Felipe Ramos Rizo has already sent off three players in the tournament.

The Mexican official dismissed Thierry Henry in France's match against Uruguay and sent off two players in Slovenia's group game against Paraguay.

"I may tell the the players about that," revealed Eriksson. "I will have see how those three players were sent off, although I guess you couldn't complain much about Thierry Henry's red card."

England have an excellent disciplinary record in the tournament so far, with just four bookings, of which those for Sol Campbell, Emile Heskey and Ashley Cole in the group stages do not now count towards any bans.

Full-back Danny Mills nevertheless risks missing any semi-final clash if he is booked again after being cautioned in the second round against Denmark.

Eriksson added: "The key will be patience when we are defending. The players shouldn't go to ground and tackle or they will be beaten and the team will have one less player. They should stay on their feet."
