Four Denmark players have announced their retirement from international
football after Saturday's World Cup exit against England.
Midfielders Stig Tofting and Brian Steen Nielsen have quit along with captain
Jan Heintze and goalkeeper Peter Kjaer following the 3-0 loss in Niigata.
Bolton's Tofting, 30, ends his international career with 39 caps, whilst
33-year-old Nielsen of Malmo draws to a close a 10-year association with the
national team.
Veteran PSV Eindhoven defender Heintze claimed 88 caps in a 14-year spell
since making his debut prior to the 1988 European Championships.
And Kjaer, third-choice stopper in Japan and Korea, will return to Aberdeen
having won four caps.
