Here are 10 things you might not know about the Nordic nation.

1 Denmark reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in France 98 before losing to Brazil.

2 Midfielder Stig Tofting, who plays for Bolton, was a fork-lift truck driver before turning professional.

3 Denmark were undefeated in their qualifying group, winning six and drawing four of their 10 matches, to finish two points clear of the Czech Republic.

4 Coach Morten Olsen won 102 caps for his country between 1970 and 1989 as a ball-playing sweeper.

5 Denmark's population is about 5.3million and a quarter of the population live in the capital Copenhagen.

6 Former international Brian Laudrup won the Scottish PFA Player of the Year award in 1995 during his time with Rangers.

7 The Dansk Boldspil Union (DBU), established in 1889, is one of the oldest non-British football associations in the world.

8 Denmark are currently ranked 20th in the world.

9 The Danish League did not turn professional until 1978.

10 Allan Simonsen became the first Dane to win the European Footballer of the Year in 1977 when wearing the colours of Borussia Moenchengladbach.
