Former Denmark international Jan Molby has tipped his countrymen to surprise
England in the World Cup second round on Saturday.
England moved into the last 16 of the competition with the goalless draw
against Nigeria and now face the Danes in Niigata after the Scandinavians saw
off the challenge of holders France in the group stages.
But the former Liverpool midfielder believes a lack of experience between
Danny Mills and Ashley Cole could be exposed by Danish wide-men such as Dennis
Rommedahl, Martin Jorgensen and Jesper Gronkjaer.
Molby said: "Our wide men are a great part of our success so far.
"They have been changed about to keep them fresh and switched them from right
to left.
"He keeps them fresh because they are the ones who cause the danger.
"We defend deep and in numbers and then we break - that's where we hurt
teams."
He added: "England have two inexperienced full-backs in Cole and Mills and
our wide men could case them one or two problems.
"But, having said that, England have been defending superbly and Rio
Ferdinand has really grown during the tournament.
"He looks as good as anything out here."
The Hull City manager also believes the burden of expectancy weighs heavily in
favour of his own country heading into the weekend showdown.
Indeed, Molby maintains victory over England would offer Denmark more than
enough satisfaction from the competition.
Molby said: "I think Denmark have got another result in them.
"There is not the same pressure on us as there is on England. We have
achieved now what people see as great things by getting out of the group.
"We have also beaten France and I have got the feeling we have nearly peaked
and we have one more result in us.
"Whereas people talk about England winning the World Cup, we are talking
about beating England, which would do for us.
"There are no cravings for us to win the World Cup and we may just have one
result left up our sleeve.
"We will do well against England. We have done well over the last two years.
"It has been unnoticed by the rest of the world and, because of the group
draw, not many people expected us to do so well.
"But the team have gone about their job quietly and effectively."
Another great Dane, Peter Schmeichel, believes the clash with England is "too
close to call".
Speaking on Match of the Day, the new Manchester City keeper said: "England
have the bigger names but you never know.
"Our coach Morten Olsen is very shrewd and he has already made a few
brilliant decisions in this World Cup."
