    1421: Germany have beaten Cameroon 2-0 to march into the second round.

    1419: Ireland have beaten Saudi Arabia 2-0 to book their place in the last 16.

    1418: Cameroon do have the ball in the net against Germany but the goal is ruled out for offside.

    1417: The Ireland game is now into time added on.

    1416: Bode has a free header from six-yards out that is brilliantly kept out by Alioum in the Cameroon goal.

    1415: Germany continue to lead Cameroon 2-0 in a game that has broken the World Cup record for the number of cards shown!

    1414: Lee Carsley comes onto replace Kinsella for Ireland.

    1413: GOAL DUFF. Mark Kinsella puts in Duff down the left and he hits a first time shot that really should have been sved by Al-Deayea but he lets the ball slip through his fingers and it rolls into the net.

    1412: Leading tournament goalscorer Klose is replaced by Oliver Neuville.

    1411: Keane can't get the ball out of his feet when free in the Sauid penalty area and the chance is wasted.

    1410: Ireland have shut up shop now as they look to play down the clock before the celebrations start.

    1409: Cameroon midfielder Lauren is booked in what is turning out to be a farcical game. So far there has been two red cards and 16 yellows!

    1408: It looks like Ireland and Germany will through to the second round as both games draw to a conclusion.

    1407: GOAL KLOSE. Ballack hits over a perfect cross from the left that finds the unmarked Klose who calmly heads the ball past Alioum from six-yards out to send Germany through to the last 16.

    1406: Cameroon striker Suffo is shown his second yellow card and both sides are now down to 10 men.

    1405: There's just 15 minutes to go in the Germany v Cameroon game with the Africans in real trouble.

    1404: Keane has a great chance to put Ireland 3-0 up but his shot from the edge of the area is pushed clear by Al-Deayea.

    1403: Torsten Frings is the next German player to be booked for a foul on Kome.

    1402: Kome hits over a free-kick from the right that finds the head of Lauren who powers the ball past Kahn but only onto his left-hand post. The ball rebounds to safety and it's another great chance gone begging.

    1401: Germany's Ziege is the next player to be booked.

    1400: Ballack tries his luck from just outside the Cameroon area but his shot is always going wide of Alioum's left-hand post.

    1359: Abdullah Jumann gets into a good position for the Saudis but his shot his wild and way off target.

    1358: Cameroon are throwing more men forward now but their final ball is letting them down and at the moment they are heading out of the World Cup.

    1357: Quinn brings the ball down in the Saudi penalty-area but his shot is poor and flies well over Al-Deayea's crossbar.

    1356: There's just 20 minutes left in the Ireland game with McCarthy's boys still leading 2-0 against the Saudis.

    1355: Patrick Mboma takes the free-kick but it is poor and easily headed clear by Christoph Metzelder.

    1354: Schneider brings down Kome and it's a free-kick to Cameroon in a dangerous position.

    1353: Kome gets free down the left for Cameroon but his cross is poor and goes straight out of play.

    1352: Al Jahani tries to catch Given off his line but the Irish keeper gets back to easily make the save.

    1351: Germany are still holding firm against Cameroon despite being down to 10 men.

    1350: Ireland's nerves have completely gone now and they are looking for a third goal that would all but seal their place in the last 16.

    1349: It's almost 3-0 to Ireland with Kelly breaking down the right before swinging over a cross that finds Quinn who hits a first time volley just wide of the Saudi goal.

    1348: GOAL BREEN. Staunton swings over a free-kick from the left and it's Breen who reacts first to get in front of his marker and stab the ball past Al-Deayea and into the net.

    1347: Al-Temyat is booked for pulling back Duff.

    1346: Olembe is booked for Cameroon for a late tackle on Schneider.

    1345: Wome tries an ambitious shot from 35-yards out that hits a crowd of players and is cleared by Ziege.

    1344: Keane tries to play a one-two with Quinn but he fails to react quick enough and the chance is gone.

    1343: Ballack almost puts through Klose but Song gets back to clear for Cameroon.

    1342: The pace in the Ireland game has completely dropped off at the moment.

    1341: The Saudis are again seeing plenty of the ball but with Germany leading against Cameroon, Ireland are still in a great position to qualify.

    1340: Immediately Cameroon striker Patrick Suffo comes on to replace Tchato as the Africans go for broke.

    1339: Keane has another good chance for Ireland but his shot is well saved by Al-Deayea.

    1338: GOAL MARCO BODE. The introduction of Bode as a half-time substitute pays off immediately for Germany. Klose knocks the ball through to Bode who calmly takes the ball in his stride before slotting the ball past Alioum to give Voller's men the lead.

    1337: Ireland have made a solid start to the second 45 minutes and are pushing the Saudis back into their own half.

    1336: Lauren swings over a good ball from the right but German defender Thomas Linke is back to head clear.

    1335: Duff cuts the ball inside to Keane who makes a quick turn before dragging his shot just wide of Al-Deayea's left-hand post. Duff has made a great start to the second 45 minutes.

    1334: Duff bursts past two defenders before having his low cross hacked clear. The Germany v Cameroon game is now back under way.

    1333: Duff swings in a cross from the left but Fouzi is back to head clear for the Saudis.

    1332: For Ireland Quinn has come on to replace Harte at the start of the second-half against Saudi Arabia.

    1317: Geremi swings over a corner for Cameroon but it misses everyone and the half-time whistle sounds to end a goalless and controversial first-half.

    1316: It's half-time in Yokohama where Ireland lead Saudia Arabia 1-0.

    1315: Cameroon defender Bill Tchato is the next man to be booked for pulling back Klose and he is the ninth player to be the shown the yellow card.

    1314: Ireland have lost their way at the moment and McCarthy will be glad when the half-time whistle sounds.

    1313: Kahn and Song come to blows after the whistle has gone and both players are shown the yellow card. It looks only a matter of time before another player is sent off.

    1312: Al Shahrani gets free in the Ireland box and hits a powerful drive that Given does well to push clear.

    1311: Ramelow brings down Samule Eto'o and he is sent off for a second bookable offence and Germany are really up against it now.

    1310: The warning signs are there for Ireland as they continue to allow Saudi Arabia to push forward.

    1309: Al-Temyat breaks for the Saudis and from 20-yards out hits a low fizzing shot that flies just inches wide of Given's left-hand post.

    1308: Carsten Ramelow is booked for a tackle from behind and he is the fourth German to be shown the yellow card.

    1307: Ziege almost catches out Alioum with a dipping free-kick, but he is alert to the danger and palms the ball over the crossbar for a German corner.

    1306: The Cameroon and Germany players come to blows but it looks pretty harmless and the referee takes no action.

    1305: Kilbane is pulled up for hand-ball much to the disgust of the Sunderland winger.

    1304: The Cameroon v Germany game is becoming a bit niggly at the moment with lots of fouls breaking up play.

    1303: Matt Holland tries to play in Keane with a ball over the top of the Saudi defence but it's just too strong and runs out for a goal-kick.

    1302: McCarthy looks frustrated by the way his Irish side are playing at the moment, with the Saudis dominating possession.

    1301: Germany's Ballack is booked for a late lunge on Lauren.

    1300: Hamann is booked for Germany and if they do get through to the second round he will miss the game through suspension.

    1259: Duff and Kelly link up well down the right and force Abdullah Sulaiman Zubromawi to concede a corner.

    1258: Song has a free-header from just eight-yards out for Cameroon but he completely misses the target much to the relief of Kahn in the German goal.

    1257: Cameroon's Pierre Wome hits a powerful free-kick that Kahn can't hold onto and the ball rebounds off Ziege and goes for a corner.

    1256: The Saudis are really knocking the ball around well at the moment with Ibrahim Al Shahrani almost getting on the end of a low cross from Al-Temyat.

    1255: Klose tries a shot from just outside the Cameroon area but his effort is blocked.

    1254: The Saudis are growing in confidence after a shaky start and are starting to send more men forward in search of an equaliser.

    1253: Klose's left boot catches Song in the face and he has to leave the pitch for treatment.

    1252: Schneider tries to lob Alioum from just inside the Cameroon half but it goes over the crossbar.

    1251: Abdel Aziz Al Khathran tries a shot from 35-yards for Saudi Arabia but Shay Given was never in trouble.

    1250: Germany are still seeing more of the ball in their clash with Cameroon, who look more than happy to sit back and soak up the pressure.

    1249: As things stand at the moment Ireland and Germany are going through to the second round.

    1248: Ian Harte makes a good run down the left for Ireland but his cross evades everyone and the Saudis clear their lines.

    1247: Dietmar Hamann finds Bernd Schneider free in the Cameroon area but he takes too long to take his shot and the chance is wasted.

    1246: Kilbane hits a low shot from 20-yards out that is easily saved by Mohammed Al Daeyea.

    1245: The Germany v Cameroon game is still goalless but both sides have had good chances to have opened the scoring.

    1244: Ireland continue to search for that vital second goal but at the moment the Saudis are defending in numbers and not allowing them much space.

    1243: Duff gets free down the left for Ireland but his low cross is cut out by Redha Tukar who hacks the ball clear.

    1242: Olembe has a great chance to give Cameroon the lead but after getting clear of the German defence he hits a weak shot at Oliver Kahn who makes an easy save.

    1241: Ireland are still dominating their match against the Saudis with Keane's early goal settling them down.

    1240: Michael Ballack has a great chance for Germany but his left-footed shot flies just over Boukar Alioumn's crossbar.

    1239: The game between Germany and Cameroon is very scrappy at the moment. German striker Carsten Jancker is booked for a high challenge on Song.

    1238: Ireland almost get caught out at the back with Nawaf Al Temyat having a shot well blocked by Gary Breen.

    1237: GOAL KEANE. Steve Staunton finds Kelly free down the right and he hits over a high ball that Keane hits first time on the volley to give Ireland the perfect start.

    1236: Ireland's Kevin Kilbane gets in behind the Saudi Arabia defence but his low cross is knocked behind for a corner.

    1235: Ireland try to push the Saudis back into their own half but at the moment it's still 0-0.

    1234: Rigobert Song wildly slices the ball over his own crossbar and the Africans have made a nervy start against their German opponents.

    1233: Germany have made a lively start against Cameroon with Spurs midfielder Christian Ziege seeing an early shot fly just over the crossbar.

    1232: Duff puts in Keane down the left but he is fouled by Fouzi Al-Sherhi and it's a free-kick to Ireland.

    1231: The game between Germany and Cameroon gets under way.

    1230: The game between Republic of Ireland and Saudi Arabia gets under way.

    Pre-match: It's a massive day for the Republic of Ireland who know that a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia will put them through to the last 16. Mick McCarthy has resisted the urge to bring in either Jason McAteer or Niall Quinn and starts with the same side that began the last match against Germany. Robbie Keane and Damien Duff will again lead the attack with Gary Kelly playing right midfield. For Saudi Arabia key midfielder Abdullah Al-Sharani is out injured and has been replaced by Khamis Al Dossari. In the other Group E game German coach Rudi Voller has picked star striker Miroslav Klose despite fears over a knee injury. Cameroon coach Winifred Schaeffer has opted for Salomon Olembe in place of Daniel Ngom Kome.
