Slovenia coach Srecko Katanec is sad that he will have to bid farewell to
international football from the stands against Paraguay on Wednesday.
Katanec is banned from the touchline after being dismissed during the 1-0
defeat to South Africa - the game which ended their interest in the
competition.
It brings an unhappy conclusion to the World Cup that started with a bust-up
with star player Zlatko Zahovic.
Katanec sent the forward home from Korea, but also revealed he would be
quitting at the end of the tournament because of the row.
But the 38-year-old promised no change in his attitude for his swansong.
"I will behave as I have done the last four years, but I will be sad that it
will be my last and I have to coach away from the bench," he said.
"However, I have to accept it and be as professional as the players."
Katanec, though, revealed he is not disappointed with his side's first-round
exit, insisting he never expected anything else.
"I never had an issue about not qualifying for the second round, that was
never our aim in this tournament," he said.
"I just wanted all our players to put in maximum effort in both games, and I
am pleased with that.
"In this final match, I am sure we will perform the same way because the
atmosphere within the team is good."
