Senegal coach Bruno Metsu has warned Uruguay his team will not fall for their
dirty tricks in what he has called the African nation's "match of truth".
Senegal, who famously beat France in the World Cup's opening game, need just a
point against Uruguay to qualify for the second round.
Metsu is aware that Uruguay, who need to win by two clear goals to pip them
for a place in the last 16, may resort to underhand tactics to unsettle his
team.
The French were furious with the behaviour of the Uruguayan players following
their goalless draw in Busan last week and accused them of diving and
playacting.
Metsu saw the game and he claims his players know what to expect from
Uruguay.
"They tried to trap the French players into making them lose their
self-control," he said.
"I'm aware of that and I hope my players won't fall into that kind of
trap."
Metsu is determined that nothing will distract Senegal from the biggest game
in their history - bigger even than their African Nations Cup final against
Cameroon earlier this year.
"For us this is the match of truth," he said.
"Before this World Cup, Senegal had not played in the World Cup.
"We came as a small team and what we have done has been wonderful, but the
real moment of truth will come for us tomorrow and can we get the result we need
to get into the second round?"
Liverpool-bound midfielder Salif Diao is suspended for the Group A showdown,
while Metsu hopes skipper Aliou Cisse, who is wanted by Birmingham, and
midfielder Khalilou Fadiga recover from injury to play.
Cisse missed the Denmark game after damaging his calf in training, while
Fadiga has a thigh strain.
Uruguay coach Victor Pua is under no illusions about the scale of the task
facing his side and he said: "We have to beat Senegal by two goals.
"It's going to be a tough game, but that's how things are at this World Cup
and we will go for it."
Perugia midfielder Fabian O'Neill seems destined to miss out again with his
Achilles injury, but Alvaro Recoba, Pablo Garcia, and Gianni Guigou are all
expected to shrug off knocks.
