Nigeria defender Isaac Okoronkwo has labelled England striker Michael Owen a
"bore".
The Super Eagles have no chance of reaching the last 16 of the World Cup
following Group F defeats to Argentina and Sweden.
However, they can still destroy England's chances when the sides meet in Osaka
on Wednesday, and Okoronkwo does not consider Owen a threat.
"He will stroll around and bore you all day," Okoronkwo told The News of the
World. "He doesn't run much, is quiet for half the game, and you keep asking
why the coach has kept him on the pitch.
"A lot of the time he does nothing."
Owen earned the penalty which captain David Beckham scored in England's famous
1-0 win over Argentina.
The Liverpool striker also struck a shot against a post, and was a constant
threat to the South Americans, who were one of the pre-tournament favourites.
However, former Derby County defender Taribo West is another Nigerian who does
not rate Owen.
"Owen can be marked out of a game," said West.
"I played against him last season and he didn't score.
"He's very fast but no player likes to be man-marked. Coming up against him
simply doesn't worry me."
Sunday Oliseh missed out on a place in the Super Eagles' squad after falling
out with coach Festus Onigbinde.
However, he also had a go at England, adding: "England exaggerate every
single quality they've got.
"Nigerian players call the England team the 'All Good People'. They go on
about what a super player this David Beckham is and it's all we ever hear.
"We tease their players all the time behind their backs. There's extra
motivation now when we play England because of their attitude.
"It's always like this when we come up against the English."
Owen, meanwhile, sees no reason why England cannot go a long way in the World
Cup.
England need only a draw against Nigeria to reach the last 16, and Owen told
the News of the World: "We have beaten one of the favourites and no-one can say
we didn't deserve it.
"Argentina are a very good side and quite rightly were fancied to go a long
way, so why shouldn't we?"
