Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni plans to start with the returning Filippo Inzaghi for Saturday's Group G clash with Croatia in Ibaraki.

Inzaghi missed Italy's 2-0 win over Ecuador on Monday because of a knee injury.

But Inzaghi has recovered and Trapattoni will play him alongside Christian Vieri, whose two goals saw off Ecuador.

Trapattoni's one injury worry concerns midfielder Luigi Di Biagio, who is hampered by an ingrowing toenail.

"I plan to start with Pippo (Inzaghi)," said Trapattoni. "He is fresh and ready and a lively player like him bothers the opponents."

Inzaghi's return means Francesco Totti, who played alongside Vieri against Ecuador, will operate in a deeper role against the Croats.

On Di Biagio's problem, Trapattoni said: "We hope it is nothing serious."

Gennaro Gattuso or Cristiano Zanetti who deputise, should Di Biagio not be fit enough to start.

There is no shortage of confidence in the Italian camp with Totti saying: "We are in a position to go all the way".

Croatia coach Mirko Jozic may drop aging stars Robert Prosinecki and Davor Suker in the wake of the 1-0 defeat against Mexico.

He has hinted that the Croatian domestic league's top scorer, Ivica Olic, could come into the side at the expense of Suker.

"Olic is an interesting option and he is definitely a front-runner among the candidates for the match against Italy," said Jozic.

Fenerbahce winger Milan Rapaic, who replaced Proinecki against the Mexicans, is another possibility.

Jozic has already said that Panathinaikos right-back Daniel Saric will replace the suspended Boris Zivkovic.

Inter Milan's Dario Simic may also come in with the task of marking Vieri.

Jozic said: "Italy came to the World Cup not only as a group favorite but as one of the leading favorites to win the tournament.

"It will be extremely difficult to pull off an upset."
