Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce revealed that he was hoping to keep France World Cup star Youri Djorkaeff at the club next season.

The 34-year-old midfielder, who faced Senegal in his country's shock World Cup defeat last week, was signed on a short-term contract from German outfit Kaiserslautern and made a major contribution in keeping the Reebok stadium side in the Barclaycard Premiership.

Allardyce told bwfc.co.uk: "I could build a team around a player like Youri. He would be my one big signing of the summer if everything works out."
