Freddie Ljungberg admits it will be strange lining up against Arsenal
team-mate Kanu when Sweden meet Nigeria in Kobe on Friday.
Ljungberg, who has been struggling with a hip injury but is expected to play
against the Nigerians, said: "It's an awkward feeling because he's (Kanu) my
team-mate and I wish him the best of luck - but maybe not in this game!"
Ljungberg knows only too well that Kanu, who has remarkable close control for
such a tall striker, offers a real threat to the Swedes.
"Technically, he's very skilful and you can't give him room because he has
some special skills," he added.
Sweden joint coach Lars Lagerback has also identified Kanu as a dangerman but
believes he has worked out a way to contain him.
"We know how to stop him but I can't say exactly how," said Lagerback, who
have noticed that Nigeria prefer to use Kanu in a deeper role.
