AGUIRRE CRITICAL AFTER SUCCESS
By PA Sport Staff
Mexico coach Javier Aguirre declared himself ``not satisfied'' with his side's
winning start to their World Cup campaign.
A Cuauhtemoc Blanco penalty on the hour proved to be enough to secure victory
over Croatia in Niigata.
But Aguirre said: ``We have a win in the first match but that is not enough to
make me satisfied.
``Now we must win the next matches - that is why we are here.''
Mexico face Ecuador in Miyagi on Sunday and Italy in Oita on Thursday week.
``Croatia played really hard football and this was a difficult game for us.
When they were reduced to 10 men it made a difference,'' continued Aguirre.
``There were a lot of errors by my players in the final third of the pitch and
that is where we have to play better.''
Croatia coach Mirko Jozic was unhappy with his side's performance and felt Zivkovic's red card and the resultant penalty were harsh.
"I think Boris' intention was not to pull the player but to kick the ball but unfortunately a penalty was given," moaned Jozic.
"But our distribution and control of the ball was really bad and the midfield was quite disorganised.
"It's always better to win the first game but only the first battle is over. The war is not lost yet."
Striker Davor Suker said: "We missed too many good chances and then the red card decided the game.
"We have four days now to organise our team for the next match."
