FT: Denmark 2 Uruguay 1.

Man of the match: Jon Dahl Tomasson. A double strike in his opening game showed his class. They were probably the only two chances he got in the game, but he finished coolly. Rodriguez's goal was worthy of winning any match, but his all-round display didn't top Tomasson's.

90 min: It's all over in Ulsan and Denmark have emerged victorious.

90 min: Regueiro breaks down the left but three defenders combine to halt the danger.

90 min: Three minutes of added time will be played.

90 min: Varela lifts over the cross from the right and Morales climbs, but his header sails over.

90 min: Silva breaks into the left-hand side of the Denmark box, but Henriksen halts him.

88 min: Denmark bring Christian Poulsen on for Sand.

88 min: Uruguay's final throw of the dice is to bring Richard Morales - who scored the goal that brought them to the World Cup - on for Abreu.

86 min: Uruguay bring Federico Magallanes for Rodriguez.

83 min: GOAL - TOMASSON. Mendez gives the ball away cheaply to Jorgensen. He floats the ball over from the left and Tomasson rises unmarked in the centre to head home.

81 min: Neither side seems content to settle for a point, probably because of France's shock defeat by Senegal on Friday.

79 min: Uruguay replace Recoba with Mario Regueiro.

77 min: Jorgensen beats Mendez inside and out but Sorondo reads the danger well and tracks back all the way, earning a goal-kick in the process.

75 min: Rodriguez goes down after clashing with Helveg and needs some treatment.

73 min: Tofting's corner falls at Helveg's feet at the back post but his attempt to get around Guigou fails and Uruguay clear through Silva.

72 min: Rommedahl and Sand look to link up down the right but the latter's ball out wide finds his colleague offside.

70 min: Denmark bring Martin Jorgensen on for Gronkjaer.

70 min: This time it's an outswinger from Recoba and again it's Henriksen who clears at the front post.

69 min: Recoba's corner again drops at the feet of Rodriguez. His volley is blocked out for yet another flag-kick.

69 min: Recoba whips in the corner, forcing Henriksen to head out for another corner.

68 min: Recoba floats a lovely cross over from the left which Jensen has to head out for a corner with Abreu waiting at the back post.

67 min: The pace of the game has dropped dramatically in the last five or so minutes, with both sides struggling to string passes together.

64 min: Recoba breaks out of midfield and rifles in a left-footed shot which Sorensen deals with comfortably.

60 min: Gravesen delivers the free-kick from the right, but Silva heads clear under little pressure.

59 min: Mendez, who has already been booked, dives in on Gronkjaer and is given what looks to be his final warning by the referee.

58 min: Mendez flings a long throw in from the right but the impressive Laursen heads clear.

57 min: Captain Heintze is the man to make way for Jensen.

56 min: Niclas Jensen of Manchester City is stripped off and ready to come on for Denmark.

54 min: Recoba's delivery lets him down for a change as he can only hit the man at the front post. Rommedahl sprints down the right but his ball in is poor.

53 min: Recoba breaks past two tackles before Laursen gets back to concede a corner.

53 min: Rommedahl curls over a cross from the right but Mendez holds off Gronkjaer to head clear at the back post.

51 min: Laursen goes into the book after pulling down Abreu as the Uruguayan looked to break through the middle.

50 min: Varela and Silva link up well down the right but the latter's ball in to the area is headed clear by Henriksen.

49 min: Recoba hobbles off for treatment after a heavy challenge from Helveg.

47 min: GOAL - RODRIGUEZ. The corner is knocked over to Rodriguez who drills the ball goalwards on the volley. His left-footed effort sails into the top corner with Sorensen beaten.

46 min: Helveg concedes a corner as Uruguay start brightly.

46 min: Denmark get the game underway again.

45 min: That's half-time. Uruguay started brightly, but Denmark have had the better of the first half and deserve to lead.

45 min: Recoba breaks from halfway but knocks the ball too far ahead and Laursen comes out of defence to intercept.

45 min: There will be two minutes of added time at the end of the first half.

45 min: GOAL - TOMASSON. Gronkjaer plays a lovely one-two with Tomasson down the left before drilling the ball in along the floor. Tomasson is on hand to slide the ball home to put Denmark in front.

44 min: Rodriguez powers down the left and gets away from Helveg, but Laursen is on hand to halt the danger on the edge of his own box.

43 min: Laursen's header from the subsequent corner is headed over his own bar by Garcia.

42 min: Tomasson tumbles in the area under pressure from Mendez but his penalty appeal is turned down as the Uruguay defender has clearly won the ball, conceding a corner in the process.

41 min: Tomasson turns well in the area again and drills the ball across, but Sorondo is on hand to clear for a corner.

40 min: Laursen strides out of defence to nick the ball off Silva's toes and set Denmark on the attack. Tomasson turns well and shots in the box but Sorondo finally clears.

39 min: Recoba breaks clear of two markers and plays a one-two with Silva. He then holds up the ball before knocking it back to Silva, whose header is blocked by Henriksen.

38 min: A promising Denmark break ends when Rommedahl's hopeful ball is chested back to Carini by Varela.

36 min: Gronkjaer teases Rodriguez but his ball in is hacked clear by Montero in the middle.

34 min: Heintze goes into the book for a poorly-timed tackle on Rodriguez.

33 min: Silva is not afraid to run at the Danish defence, but this time his ball in is cleared by Laursen.

32 min: Gronkjaer breaks down the right but just fails to keep the ball in under pressure from Montero.

31 min: Rommedahl cuts in from the left flank and gets a shot away, but it's a poor effort that sails into the crowd.

30 min: Recoba breaks clear of Henriksen down the left and crosses to Silva at the back post. He heads the ball back across but Abreu has been flagged offside.

29 min: Gronkjaer is causing the Uruguayans all sorts of problems with his pace on both flanks.

27 min: Tofting stares out the referee after a decision goes against him, but the official takes no action.

26 min: Gravesen's flag-kick is headed clear by Dario Rodriguez.

26 min: Gravesen's free-kick is headed out for a corner by Sorondo.

25 min: Gronkjaer breaks down the left flank and falls under pressure from Mendez. The right-back goes into the book for the foul - he's the first man to be cautioned.

23 min: Recoba floats the free-kick over the wall but Sorensen gets down to his left to gather.

23 min: Silva breaks into the Denmark half and wins a free-kick from Heintze.

21 min: Tofting knocks the free-kick sideways to Gravesen but his long-range shot is always drifting wide.

20 min: Laursen breaks out of defence and wins a free-kick after a robust tackle from Pablo Garcia.

19 min: Tomasson works himself some space with a lovely first touch but his shot is blocked by Montero.

18 min: Gravesen's free-kick is headed clear by Sorondo and Silva completes the clearance.

18 min: Silva returns to the action for Uruguay but he's still hobbling.

17 min: Guigou works himself some space 25 yards out but he can't get it back on to his left foot and Denmark clear through Gronkjaer, who wins a free-kick from Gonzalo Sorondo.

16 min: Recoba floats a free-kick over which Gustavo Varela heads goalwards but it's straight at Sorensen, who gathers easily.

16 min: Silva has come off worse of the two tackles and the stretcher is on to take him off the pitch.

15 min: Silva wins the ball and is brought down by Laursen. Helveg then brings Abreu down and the free-kick is awarded.

15 min: Tomasson returns the ball to Uruguay after Helveg gets back to his feet.

14 min: Carini kicks the ball out of play after Helveg goes down following a clash with Abreu. He looks to have caught a stray boot in the face.

12 min: Gravesen slides Gronkjaer in down the left. The ball reaches Helveg on the right and he knocks a cross in. Sand dives in at the back post but can only head it against the bar.

11 min: Silva forces Jan Heintze to concede a free-kick down the Uruguay right.

10 min: Gianni Guigou looks long from left to right but Gustavo Mendez can't keep the ball in play.

8 min: Recoba floats the free-kick over the wall but it drifts just wide of Sorensen's right-hand post despite curling viciously.

8 min: Silva draws a free-kick from Laursen with a neat piece of skill 30 yards from the Denmark goal.

7 min: Dennis Rommedahl gets his first chance to break. He cuts inside having reached the edge of the 18-yard box but his shot is just off target.

6 min: Gronkjaer beats his marker but his cross is straight at Fabian Carini, who gathers easily.

5 min: Sorensen has to be lively to leave his line and snatch the ball off Silva's toes.

5 min: Denmark are wasteful in possession, with Thomas Helveg passing it straight out of play down the right.

4 min: Alvaro Recoba floats the ball over and Abreu climbs at the front post, but his header is way off target.
