Mexico's Rafael Garcia could miss the World Cup opener against Croatia on Monday.

Garcia, who has just returned from an ankle injury, suffered a muscle strain in training yesterday which could see him miss out on a starting place.

"I felt a pull and these are tricky injuries," he said.

"I feel fine, but sometimes it hurts me when I do some movements. I expect to be in shape.

"I want to play, but the coach will decide."

The Toluca winger is a key player in Javier Aguirre's side, and the coach is willing to give him a few days to reclaim his fitness.

"He has just suffered a muscles problem and now he had pains in the area.

"It's not another injury but we will have to see how does he evolves in the next few days."
