Arsenal midfielder Junichi Inamoto has told his Japan team-mates that the
first goal will be decisive in their World Cup kick-off against Belgium.
Inamoto believes the co-hosts need a good start if they are to progress past
the first round stage for the first time.
He said: "If we don't win the first game, then it's going to be really
difficult for the rest of the tournament.
"It could come down to whoever scores the opening goal."
Despite failing to secure a first team place for the English champions,
Inamoto remains crucial for Phillipe Troussier, the Japan coach.
They are top seeds in their group, but have been handed a tough draw in Group H.
As well as Belgium, they face Russia and Tunisia.
