the goal. Mark 6/10
Lilian Thuram: Noted for his attacking tendencies but hardly able to make any
surging runs. 5/10
Frank Leboeuf: Solid performance by the former Chelsea star, who tried to
drive the team forward. 6/10
Marcel Desailly: Looked surprisingly uncomfortable against the pace of Diouf.

Bixente Lizarazu: Like Thuram he was solid enough defensively but his
attacking options were limited. 5/10.
Patrick Vieira: Worked hard in the centre of the park but struggled to make an
impact. 5/10.
Emmanuel Petit: At fault with Senegal's goal and looked out of sorts during
the game. 5/10.
Youri Djorkaeff: Saw plenty of the ball but unable to penetrate the Senegal
defence. 6/10.
Sylvain Wiltord: His pace got him out of tight situations, although he was
mainly anonymous. 5/10
Thierry Henry: Came more into the game in the second half and nearly equalised
his shot rattling the bar. 6/10
David Trezeguet: Saw a shot come back off the post and posed France's biggest
threat. 7/10.

Christophe Dugarry (for Djorkaeff 60 mins): Tried hard to get the equaliser
but out of luck. 6/10.
Djibril Cisse ( for Wiltord 81 mins): Unable to make an impact 5/10.
Senegal
Tony Sylva: The Monaco back-up goalkeeper rode his luck in the game by
continually racing off his line. 6/10.
Ferdinand Coly: Gave an accomplished performance on the right side of the
defence. 7/10.
Aliou Cisse: Strong and sound but sometimes his challenges were a bit
reckless. 6/10.
Lamine Diatta: Made it a frustrating time for Henry and Wiltord with his good
positioning. 6/10.
Omar Daf: A willing worker who stood his ground despite being under constant
pressure in the second half. 6/10.
Moussa Ndiaye : Found it hard to get into the game, although he refused to
hide. 5/10.
Salif Diao: The Liverpool target enjoyed the big stage and fought for every
ball. 7/10.
Papa Bouba Diop: Stunned the French by opening the scoring to create a little
bit of history. 7/10.
Khalilou Fadiga: Always dangerous from set pieces and saw a shot rattle the
bar. 7/10.
El Hadji Diouf: The African Footballer of the Year proved a real handful for
the French. 8/10.
Pape Malick Diop: Worked his socks off to make sure Senegal got something from
the game. 6/10.
